Traditional healing is not magic – it is a deeply transformative spiritual medicine that helps release emotional blockages and trauma and the patterns that prevent us from living fully present lives.”
From childhood, Susan has carried a deep sense of wonder about the natural world and the unseen dimensions of life. Her calling to healing service led her from emergency medicine to the deep roots of traditional and spiritual healing – an exploration that would shape her entire adult life.”
In 2003, Susan and her husband traveled to Mexico and were initiated into the Nahua weather working tradition. Through a visionary dream and guidance from Wixárika elders, she entered a nine-year apprenticeship, ultimately becoming an initiated Mara’akame under the guidance of Tsaurixika elder Don Jose Sandoval de la Cruz.
Susan serves on the Board of Trustees of Sacred Fire, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to reconnecting people to lives of meaning and purpose by way of ceremony and learning through the gifts of Sacred Fire.
